Session 2023-24 – Justin Hall

A huge thank you to our first speaker of 2023/2024, Justin Hall who gave us a glimpse of the Hall’s, a prominent old Renfrewshire family. The talk gave us a fascinating glimpse of medieval Renfrewshire and a family connection going back generations.

 

Also many thanks to Rob Martinson for bringing along the “treasures” he and his son have found in the River Cart near the swing bridge. A great collection of bottles, a dagger and a fantastic child’s shoe which is probably Victorian. It’s remarkable how preserved the leather is. We can only wonder about the story of the child /children who wore it.

 

Our next meeting will be 26th Oct at 7.30 in the Church Hall where we will find out about the results of a recent dig in Old Kilmadock Graveyard.
