Gravestone Inscription

Here lie the remains
Of
ELIZABETH WATSON
Who died 28th January 1814
At the advanced age of 81 years;
Her Husband
DAVID SMITH, Farmer in NEW MAINS
Who had experienced for 62 years
Her worth as a partner in life:
Has erected this monument in tribute
To her Memory.

There are also interred
Four of their children viz.
WILLIAM, who died 24th May 1784 aged 23
ROBERT, who died 28th June 1793 aged 26
CHARLES, who died 28th March 1796 aged 18
And JOHN SMITH,
Who died 27th August 1810 aged 56 years

Beneath this stone lie the remains of
DAVID SMITH Late Farmer in New Mains.
He died on the 8th day of Sept 1818 in the 97
Year of his age, after having performed wi-
-th exemplary faithfulness and well regul-
-ated zeal, the important duties of an Elder
In the Parish of Inchinnan for 70 years, His
manners were blameless, his life was upright
Having lived under the influence of Christ-
-ian principles, he died animated by
Christian hope.

Mark the perfect man and behold the
upright, for the end of that man is peace.
